Long-term card recovery

If you have been a holder of a long-term authorization and no longer have it, here is how you can recover your card.

 

Please note that the recovery process applies in the following cases:

 

  1. Have been absent from the EU territory for a period of more than 12 months.
  2. Having acquired EU long-term residence from another Member State.
  3. having completed the non-return undertaking if at the time of return to the country of origin he/she had long-term resident status.
  4. To have remained outside Spanish territory for a period of more than 6 years.

 

 

What is the procedure?

 

You should know that the application must be submitted by the citizen personally and should be addressed:

  1. In case of being outside Spanish territory, the Spanish consular office closest to your domicile and must be directed to the office of foreigners where you are going to take up residence. Remember that to enter Spain again you must have estimated recovery and apply for a residence visa.
  2. If you are in Spain, you must submit the application within 3 months of your entry at the immigration office of your place of residence.

 

 

What documents do you need?

 

  1. Passport or travel document valid for at least 4 months.
  2. Certificate of criminal record from the country of origin.
  3. Medical certificate.

 

Once the application has been filed, the corresponding Delegation or Subdelegation has a period of 3 months to issue a resolution, and if it does not expressly issue a resolution, it will be deemed to have been accepted.

Remember that you must personally apply for the TIE within one month from the effective date of the authorization.
