"Operation against the mafia of immigration appointments: the dark business that exploits the desperation of immigrants".

Spanish authorities have struck a major blow against organized crime by dismantling a dangerous mafia network dedicated to the illegal sale of appointments for immigration procedures in the country.

As a result of this operation, 69 individuals allegedly involved in this illegal activity have been arrested, while another 25 are currently under investigation.

According to investigation sources, among those involved is a computer "hacker" who operated with a system of bots to automatically block appointments offered on an official website.

The "hacker" then sold these appointments to lawyers specialized in immigration matters and to other interested parties through various channels, charging prices ranging from 200 to 1,000 euros, depending on the urgency or relevance of the procedure. The authorities attribute to those involved computer crimes, membership of a criminal organization and crimes against the rights of foreigners.

As part of the operation, the police arrested the main hacker, who is collaborating with investigators and is charged with a computer crime against state institutions. The lawyers under investigation are accused of collaborating or cooperating in this crime.

The discovery of this mafia has revealed a practice that undermines the integrity of the immigration system and represents an obstacle for those seeking to regularize their status in Spain.

The clandestine business of foreigners' appointments.

Obtaining appointments for immigration procedures in Spain has become increasingly difficult due to the high demand and limited availability of legitimate appointments. This situation has led to the emergence of this mafia that takes advantage of the desperation of immigrants and offers illegal services to get appointments in the different agencies responsible for managing these procedures.

It should be noted that, even without the presence of this mafia, obtaining appointments has become extremely complicated, with long waiting periods, it has become almost impossible to obtain an appointment within reasonable time frames. This situation has led some immigrants to resort to illegal intermediaries in a desperate attempt to expedite the process in an irregular manner.

The impact on society:

The sale of immigration appointments by this mafia has had serious repercussions on Spanish society and on immigrants seeking to regularize their status in the country, creating a sense of injustice and inequality, as those who could pay were able to access procedures more quickly, while others were left behind in an overburdened system.

Consequences for persons in an irregular situation:

The lack of appointments and the impossibility of regularizing their legal status have serious consequences for immigrants in an irregular situation in Spain.

  1. Deportation: The lack of a regular immigration status can lead to Spanish authorities initiating deportation proceedings against irregular immigrants. Without an appointment and the possibility of regularizing their situation, the probability of being detected and facing a deportation order increases considerably.
  2. Employment limitations: People in an irregular situation often face difficulties in accessing formal and stable employment, which can lead to further job insecurity and exploitation by unscrupulous employers.
  3. Limited access to basic services: Lack of regular immigration status can also affect access to basic services, such as health care, education or social benefits. This can jeopardize the health and well-being of people in irregular status, as well as that of their families.
The commitment of the authorities:

The fight against these criminal networks dedicated to the sale of foreigners' appointments must be a priority for the Spanish authorities. This operation should have a deterrent effect on other criminal organizations engaged in similar activities. It is essential to promote policies that facilitate access to immigration appointments and streamline administrative procedures, preventing immigrants from being forced to resort to illegal and risky options. In addition, greater collaboration between authorities and citizens is required to detect and report these cases in a timely manner.

Conclusions:

The dismantling of the mafia that operated by selling immigration appointments in Spain marks a significant milestone in the fight against corruption and illegality in the immigration system. However, it is crucial to take further steps to facilitate access to legitimate appointments and ensure regular and safe migration, while safeguarding the human rights of immigrants.

The use of technology by the hacker to block appointments highlights the need to strengthen security and protection systems for immigration procedures. This implies implementing more robust and sophisticated measures to prevent future cases of interference and safeguard the integrity of the appointment request process.
